TCS gives a pay cut..on back of recession reduces salary..Shocks employees

TCS(TATA Consultancy Services) handed out a notice to employees on Monday about a impending pay cut on basis of Q3 results.Though no specific amount details are announced but just a general announcement on Monday evening(IST) was made by TCS.

Most employees are clueless about this pay cut, but it is going to be like a recovery for salary already paid out for August-Decemeber 2007.The recovery will be happening in Feb/March 2008. This may be 5-10% of the salary on the variable component.

TCS has a Variable component which depends on the rating a individual recieves on scale of 1-5 (D-A). This component also is linked to companies performance and metrics.This component known as VA which was paid in advance for Q3 will be reduced by almost 20-25% on our estimate. Generally VA is 50% of a person’s salary and increases towards top management.

Soon expect similar steps from Infy,Wipro and other Indian major IT companies.This cut is attributed to Appraising rupee value against dollar.

Which types/sizes of ads are best for your site?

Well wondering which types of attracts more than others? According to Google the wide ads are more attractive than the slender ones.

It says 728×90 will always perform better than a 160×600 (Width x Height). It is related the way humans read, as we usually read content in a single, it is expected that the ads displaying information in a single line or Horizontal way is more attractive to users.Its good for users hence good for publishers. In my experience I have seen the ads placed right in middle of your site just above the content performs very well.

But if you start placing ads in the middle of your page many users may get irritated or your site will look ads oriented rather than content oriented. Its upto you to bring in a balance.

The link ads can be added anywhere and here also the wider ads in a single line saves more space and brings good exposure.

Is iphone losing its market?

Apple last week announced that it has sold 3.7 millions iphones till now, whereas AT&T figures show its little under 2 million iphones. 1.7 million is a whopping number to miss, its either that the people who bought never activated through AT&T or unlocked it or is it lying in stores?.

Though the fact many phones were unlocked, still 1.7 millions cant accounted for unlocking.Many analysts predict that there is a huge buildup of iphones in stores.With Apple not making any announcement about new iphone versions, many Apple fans were also disappointed.

After the initial buzz many mobile enthusiasts might lose interest in iphone, afterall mobile market is very fast and versions are released every 3 months are so.

Lets see what happens to iphone and its future..
