Indian IT Biggies chicken out of Dataquest Best Employer Survey

Well you can fake your internal Employee Satisfaction survey, but  an independent Survey is a big no no for Indian IT heavyweights like TCS,Infosys,Wipro and Microsoft India.

Well all the top names of Indian IT chose not to participate in the Annual Dataquest Best Employer survey citing recession as reason, admitting the fact that employees are unhappy with these companies. Every year these companies flaunt the Dataquest results internally and to media in a big way, but not to participate this year in itself shows the true nature of India’s top companies.

It is little childish to behave in this way considering that these companies talk so much about Employee improvement , transparency, Corporate Social Responsibility etc.  It could well be that all these companies formed a syndicate to skip the annual survey.

Funny though TCS in its part showed a 1% improvement in its annual employee satisfaction survey Pulse 2009.

HCL on the other hand chose to participate and came on top of the charts followed by iGate , Rolta India,RMSI and SAS institute. Follow the Below links

Chrysler and GM bankruptcy – No impact on TCS and Wipro.

The media has been making wild guesses about the impact of Chrysler and GM bankruptcies. Economic Times went on to say how Infosys will be impacted along with TCS in case of Chrysler bankruptcy, the news made one point very clear the Media lives and thrives on speculation and Rumors. The fact that Infosys withdrew from Chrysler almost a year back and only TCS and Syntel are Chrysler’s vendors was probably not known the speculator from Economic times.

And in terms of impact Chrysler included TCS in its critical supplier list and All TCS payments were cleared by bankruptcy courts. There has been no ramp down after the bankruptcy as these companies had already planned out these things. Also TCS has started getting more work in terms of renaming the Chrysler in its applications and preparing for the Fiat alliance.

This could be the case with GM, the Government is helping these companies clean the slate in terms of Debts and nothing more. So If at all there is any impact it could be positive on the Indian vendors in long term.

Role of HRs in Software companies like TCS,Infosys ,Wipro et all

I recently watched a TV program in STAR Vijay (STAR’s Tamil Channel) “Neeyaa Naanaa ?” (translation : You or Me ? ). This program brings people (No celebrities, just common man) with opposing views and let them air their opinion on show.

Last week’s topic was HR vs employees in IT ? Industry. The HRs were well represented by TCS HR,Infosys HR and from many other companies. Even the employee group had diverse employees. As you would know the HR team was very good in speaking through the topic and keeping a strong hold in the discussion by saying employees fake their resumes etc etc.

Also most of the HR group indicated they fight for employees against management and they save the employees everyday. It was pathetic many of the employees couldn’t really put their views across in the show. But finally the Show anchor decided to pitch in for employees, he asked if the following are true or not?

* HR doesnt really perform any of so called Human Resources empowerment or Helping the employees, rather they are a tool to implement management ‘s decisions.
* The way employees are getting fired in recession, informing them on the very day to leave office without any actual notice period.
* HR doesn’t have any independent say in most decisions.
* HRs think they are the Boss.
* Asking woman employees not to become pregnant for few years or so as a condition for hiring them.

As you would expected the HR team refuted all the allegations and then was the twist. One of the HR member spoke in his own idiotic way to accept the fact they simply follow management orders.

And to top it all the program invites two experts in the subject of discussion, they had Pugazhendhi (HR Manager and an renowned writer).

He didn’t mince words ” Todays HR’s function is not really for welfare of employees, the word HR is not a correct job description for most of them. They are just process enforcers and acting towards enforcing the Management’s decisions”

Lets have a discussion in the newly formed IT Forum
